So I have been trying to play GTA IV on my PC and it lags like hell on all low settings... My PC has an
AMD FX-8150 processor OC - watercooled
AMD 7970 Sapphire OC
16gigs of kingston ram @ 1600
I can run any game max settings but this one I can't even run on very low... please help me

Did you buy the game or download it from a torrent?

Yea its badly optimized so is arma 2.

Make sure your drivers are fully updated, and try setting your render distances to something medium or medium-low.

I have dual 7950s and I can at least play in medium-high in most situations, you should have no problems with a 7970.

hmm it would have to be the game I would guess, the only thing I could tell you is if you can run Borderland 2 and/or Skyrim just fine but not GTA 4 then it would be your download and you can try redownloading it

It's a bad port of a console game so it runs awfully on most rigs.

You're missing the patches surely.

Not joking at all when I say the base game ran at like 10 fps and once patch 1.0.7 was installed went straight up to good speeds.

If my year old laptop can play it, your desktop shouldn't have a problem.
