these are the best specs i could produce while staying around $1000

mobo - gigabyte ga-h77m-d3h
cpu - intel core i5 3350p quad-core
ram - corsair xms3 8gb 1600mhz
gpu - gigabyte geforce gtx 670 windforce oc 2gb
hdd - seagate barracuda 1tb 7200rpm 64mb cache
psu - corsair tx650m 650w bronze certified
chassis - corsair obsidian series 350d w/window

get an i5 4570 instead of the one you have

That looks fine. I would personally go AMD, or if not that then Haswell, but I'm not sure is Haswell has an i5 you can get for that price.

not compatible with this mobo, i am going to look around and see if i can find a decent sub-$100 socket 1150
