So i grew up in a pretty diverse racial community. Towards the end of 7th grade i had to move. I moved to a place called Crystal Lake and its the exact opposite of where i grew up. Theirs barely any races other than Caucasian. People i talk to, even my really close group of friends always say things like "but you're black" or "colored" or anything along the lines of mentioning my race. It isn't as bad as before. When i first moved, everyone would ask things like "do you like kool-aid?", or "do you like watermelon?" Like seriously why don't you grow up? Everyone here acts like they've never seen a black person before. I tell them "seriously guys, cut it out" (because i don't want to be rude) but they don't understand when to stop. Everyone like this needs to grow up and understand that African Americans and practically every other race hates when you point out stereotypes or mention their race over a stupid topic. This stuff really crawls up my skin

Sometimes if people come from a predominantly white area sterotypes are all they have to go on, maybe they are just asking questions because they don't know any better.I wouldn't consider someone asking you if you like watermelon a racist slur or any of the other stuff you have mentioned.

I could never do that to someone I don't know, that sucks. Me and my REALLY good friends joke with each other about this kind of stuff, but not often. Whoever is doing it you should tell them that it is annoying or offends you. If they had any type of common sense they would stop because after that point if it continues it is harassment.

It's sad that people think that this stuff is fine. I wish people would be more mature about racial stereotypes and keep to themselves

I feel when I make a black joke (I'm sorry but I have before) that it is mutual. I don't care if a black person says "I cant jump" or calls me "cracker" because its mutual. If i can make jokes about them, they can make jokes about me! That's just how I feel, as I have some black friends on my football team!

There's a certain point when one is harassed by constant "jokes" like these, and it turns from "joking around" to racism. Why don't YOU just shut up and realize that racism shouldn't be embraced?

Black people think everything is racist. Look at the George Zimmerman trial.

Why don't you stop being so sensitive and butt hurt. (about the jokes)

PS im not racist. Just don't know why black people whine about kool aid and water melon jokes....
