As you've probably found out, there are loads of poorly made, cheap and boring free games out there on the internet. However, here are some noteworthy ones you should definitely try:

- Team Fortress 2 (Steam)
- Runescape
- League of Legends
- Dota 2
- Warframe

Just go through the free-to-play section of Steam and see what suits you. There's different genres and some may not suit you.

Another idea is to do something productive. Use YouTube and reliable internet sources to teach yourself a new skill. There are also projects that you could work on. For example, i'm making a custom Xbox controller over the summer holiday. Not only do you benefit from learning something new and keeping your brain active, you also have that feeling of accomplishment when you finish the project. I have no idea what your interests or skills are, but here are a broad range of projects you could do:

- Watch a series of Photoshop tutorials to increase knowledge of graphic design. (Alternatively, you could use GIMP, an opensource/free program similar to Photoshop) [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

- Learn to use 3D modelling software (Blender and Google Sketchup are both free software packages) [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

- Make your own free to play game! Software like Game Maker Studio is free AND available for mac. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

- Learn how to write HTML/CSS and make a website. Notepad++ is great, and there are plenty of tutorials out there on how to use it. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

- Write a blog. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

- Start a YouTube channel. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

- Learn how to play an instrument (From my experience, and perhaps a slightly bias point of view, the keyboard/piano is the best instrument to start playing) (oh, and the ladies love a guy who can play an instrument ;) )

- Learn how to use audio software like LMMS and make dubstep/electronic music. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

- Write a book

- Make comic strips

- Help people on TheTechGame

- Play/learn a sport (with friends?)

Obviously, there are a thousand more things you could do. They're just some of the things that appeal to me. If you're still stuck for ideas, ask your friends what they do. Look around online at projects other people have done. Don't give up if you can't pick up a skill straight away, or the first project you attempt fails.

You should of got Steam and taken advantage of the Summer sale, I got 40 games for 24 dollars. Check Steam there are some Free to play games out there

I usually just sit on here anyways, surprised the forum is really inactive at the moment considering that everyone is in their summer holidays.
