Hey, guys, I have a quick question about YouTube and monetization. If I use music that is not copyrighted, could I use it to make money or do I need permission from the artist to use it to make money? The reason why I'm asking is that I am going to upload a music mix that contains a lot of songs that I don't own.

Please post only if you know the right answer. I will +rep the best answers. Thanks.

You must be sponsored, and own all copy rights to be "paid"

The music is copyright free, though. I just need to know if I need permission from the artist to use his/her songs (even if they're not copyrighted)...

If you put the artist/bands name, song title and any pages they have then that's fine as you are giving credit to them

You could try to get permission for the publisher if not, I do not know!

Monetization is alot more strict then a regular partnership mate. I would advise asking the artist for permission. Google are VERY STRICT!
