Maybe your password or email isn't right.

It comes up saying that I'm downloading but it stops at downloading profile data?

I've never had this problem...clear your cache. If that doesn't work then you'll have to call Microsoft.

Usually if there is an error code or something like that, you can fix that by signing on to Xbox.com from the place where you're at, and if it says you need to verify something just send the code to your phone or email and type in the code then it should work.

Also make sure the account isn't already on the Hard Drive, if for some odd reason it is, delete it.

Even if one is on my USB stick do I still have to delete it?

Well I think if you move it to your USB Stick you should be good as long as you choose the Hard Drive for your Storage Device.
