Crubunkle's GIGA Rant!
Being a long time Call of Duty console player, I have experienced every games life-cycle since CoD4. I have also experienced the change in trends from beginning-middle-and ,hopfully soon, end. At the beginning of CoD4, the community grew to become a group of people who traded tricks, classes and skills with eachother to grow each players skillset.
W@W brought more emphasis on the co-op aspect mostly revolving around the zombies mode which brought forth a new community of zombies players who enjoyed showing their high-round based gameplay between eachother.
Then came the birth of MW2, which along with, came the beginning of one of the greatest burdens to ever graze the Call of Duty scene, hacking. These hacks came in all different shapes and sizes, Rank hacks, Aimbots, modded lobbies, and many different varieties that these idiots still produce today.
BO1 came along with the return of zombies mode and the same slow multiplayer mechanics we all experienced in W@W.
MW3 was the first primary COD of what I would call the biggest burden in the CoD community, trolling. These are not the trolls that are somewhat humorous and entertaining, no these are the trolls that find entertainment in following team mates while firing behind them, killing allies in hardcore, spewing hate at fellow game-chatters or even simply having an offensive attitude.
B02 sealed the deal that it was time I left console. In every league play game I found myself in, the hackers I once dreaded in MW2 had returned with all kinds of new super-powers and hacks. When I decided to play casual again, all I could encounter is crowds of players with juiced up perks and a combat knife, or just cheeky bastards that liked to sprint around with an OP Remington 870. I have discovered that the trolls and gamers that only find enjoyment in causing frustration to other players in their lobbies are the only idiots that populate CoD anymore. If you need an example, try this one, go into a Gun Game in BO2, and see how long it takes for the game to finish. This is not because it is taking a player a long time to achieve a kill with each weapon, it is because there are a handful of elite, highly trained super-players roaming the map zigging and zagging around to demote your weapon rank with no intention of progressing their own. The knife kills to not bring them closer to a win, nor do they do anything much more than give them a nice little +10 on screen.
It was my hope that PC would be different. I went out, bought a gaming PC, and yet again payed the assholes at Infinity Ward and Activision yet another 60$ just to play the same **** game on a different platform. It came to my realization, not surprise, that the community on PC was even more arrogant and idiotic than console in a few regards. The knifers still existed, only now they could bind the knife key to their primary mouse button while Crubunkle over here tries to reach over to V and counter-knife. The hackers still exist as well, in-fact they are even more prevolent. On PC, I usually encounter a level 55 COD4 Hacker (Or should I call them "Download-and-DragnDrop-Files-To-Game_Folder Kiddies"?) who is sitting pretty at max level with a maxed our RPD hipfiring into the ground miraculously headshotting me as well as every one of my fellow team mates. The frustrations on PC were equal to or greater than the same frustrations on console.
This experience has cost me:
Cod4 Pc & Console 3 times: 130$
W@W +DLC: 90$
MW2 + DLC: 90$
BO1 + DLC: 120$
MW3: 60$
CoD Elite(Which for a few mounths of my membership didn't function): 50$
BO2 + DLC: 90$
And one priceless object to me, days and days of my life that could have been spent on something meaningful.
About 630$ though my estimates were "rough" to say the least.
Also take the time to add up all of your total days on CoD. I have about 46 in all CoDs combined. That is an extra summer vacation. Can you all imagine what you would do to have another summer vacation before going back to school.
Oh and might I add the pair of turtle beaches that were broken when a hacker set me to level -1 in a PUBLIC LOBBY in MW2. 120$
This post was long, which I understand, but it doesn't mean that it has to be meaningless. This entire rant would be meaningful if I could just get one of you to be impacted by what I'm about to say.
Pay attention to BO2 lately. They are charging you for a 50$ Season Pass for all "DLC" yet they then turn around and charge you an extra bit for "new" camos and reticles. The things that both developers as well as their publisher Activision are doing is NOT okay. They are stealing money from all of you, their "fans" and profiting off of it with no care of what you say back. Hell they just patched the guns that 35% of their, as I say again, "fans" use. (The snipers). I read all the tweets of what you all respond to them. Obviously you want it returned to how it was but they refuse. They steal all of your money with no intent of giving a good and fun to play game in return.
Please take the time to think objectively about what I just said. Think about this post next time you have your 15$ floating over that "new" and "groundbreaking" DLC that they shit out of their studios or maybe for a serious-serious fan, cut back on at least 1 "Personalization Pack" every time they release, what?, like 6 of them. I hope that this post has changed some of your ways of think because as it may show, it took a lot of my free time to not play this piece of shit COD game.
I also want to thank you all again for taking the time to read this post, I want to make a difference and voice my opinion about things that I find wrong with the world. All of you reading this helps me achieve that goal. Thanks again. -Nick :pharte:

Which is why I do not play COD anymore and is exactly why I will be spending my money on BF4 and not Ghosts.

Can't help but notice how you refer to these hackers on MW2 as idiots, what a joke, considering they are considerably much smarter than you.
Ohh but I agree with you on some, BO2 is complete trash with scrandoms. All I play is MW3 and MW2 for like you said, private match fun. It's only a matter of time before MW3 is like CoD4 with hacks and MW2 and just gets old.
I'm hoping Ghosts is just really good, if not, back to MW3. Also I do own BF3 with the Season Pass thing. Not a fan of it, played it for two weeks, didn't like it.

Kind wrote Can't help but notice how you refer to these hackers on MW2 as idiots, what a joke, considering they are considerably much smarter than you.I don't want to make it seem like by idiots I meant that they were unintelligent. I meant that for them to change the game in a way they would want it and bring it into public lobbies, is something I have a problem with. I'm sure a lot of the hackers that write their own patches and work JTAGS are very smart and a lot smarter than what they are given credit for, it is just that I don't like when they bring it public and make other people play it how they modded it to be. Private hacked lobbies that change ranks, etc, is something I couldn't care less about if someone was doing it, but when they take "infections" (I believe that's what they are called.) into public to give them an advantage is where the issue comes up. Thanks for replying though!

Despite the flaws of each game, that's what you'll remember them by years from now.
All in all, despite what people say, it's been a good franchise. However come November, I'll be done with it.

Smeargle wrote Despite the flaws of each game, that's what you'll remember them by years from now.Couldn't agree more. The problem with the game was not the game itself but more along the lines of what the community has evolved to each year. It has spiraled to the point where I can't stand to play the game because of the other players, not because of the game itself.

Your not really complaining about the actual game your complaining about the players IN the game if you don't like, don't play it simple as that. Mods what make the game fun, for example some Minecraft Mods influenced the company (4J Studios, Mojang etc.) to make the game better and more fun.
