I disagree, no way you should be paid 30K a year to flip burgers. Hell no. People who work twice as hard don't even get $10 an hour why should they?

Thoughts?

I never really thought of McDonald's being a career unless you were really high up in the chain and you are making good money. This is understandable for people who probably did not go to college and is now stuck at a fast food restaurant trying to make a living. I think instead of striking they should just find a better job. Fast food places can get away with only giving people minimum wage because most of there employees are teens and it is there first job so they wont mind how much they are making as long as they are making money.

I think it should be at least $10.. And you don't think that flipping burgers is worth a good wage? To tell you the truth, I am a Grill operator at steak n shake in daytona beach. I work at the highest volume store in my district (Most customers). Now getting down to the point. I work over 2 grills for 6 hours 6 days a week. Now the temperature of those grills are 350F and 285F. Now.. Stand over a grill for 6 hours 6 days a week. Thats not all. I'm a 6'4 tall man. What does that mean? My back hurts, why? Because all the bread I used for the hamburgers are under the grill. Now I want you to picture a dinning room full of people (97 is our max capacity) and a drive thru to feed (Having to keep drive thru times under 2 Mins).. I've done a $5000 lunch with me and a manger. What does that mean? The sales between 11am-3pm totaled $5000 dollars. with most of are costumers ordering off the 4 dollar menu that is roughly 1,200 burgers.. (2,400) pucks.. 1,200 Buns. Now.. Not counting re-makes that's a lot of work..

Point of the story, do I deserve $7.79/HR? No, so I want you to work in fast food. It's harder than you think.. Just because the food comes quick, doesn't mean It came easy, thanks

*Edit. I manged to get a $.50 raise lol..

Any job should get at least $11.00 to meet the cost of living.

Well unfortunately living on your own isn't as easy as asking dad and mom for money to go to collage

Mcdonalds could easily afford but they no they don't have to for people to work there. I always think people will work and buy food regardless of working conditions and wages.

get a better job. These kinds of jobs should be worked by 16-24 year olds IMO. IF you're older than that and working there that's your own fault.

In a perfect world, I would say go for it. Since we don't live in a perfect world, this is not a good thing to do. Say hello to inflation if they change it. McDonald's will just be the first place to do it. Others will follow and then everything will just get more expensive because of it. There is no point in raising their wages if everything is going to go up with it to compensate for the changes. Of course these changes may not be instant, but you will see it not long after.
