I'ts pretty simple to do this.
1. Be on OFFICIAL 3.1.1 or 3.1.2 firmware version.
2. Plug in your device to your pc or mac ( ipod touch 1g,2g,3g,iphone,3g,3gs...)
3. Go to [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] and download the blackra1n application. Click on the little windows or mac icon below the website.
3. Start blackra1n.exe on your pc or mac
4. Wait for it to reboot automatically
5. Scroll to 2nd page of your device
6. Open blackra1n app on your device and choose Cydia OR icy OR rock (i prefer cydia)
7. Congratulations

Step 6. I recommend that you ONLY install CYDIA. It is the best by far, Don't bother with the rest.

P.S To get rid of the blackra1n icon on your ipod after either,
1. Press uninstall after you click on the blackra1n app icon.
2. Go onto CYDIA and type in SBSettings, Then just hide the icon. (You might aswell install SBSettings.. Its class.)

If you have 3.1.3 you can't do it

You go to blackra1n.com and download windows or mac
then you connect your iPod touch to your computer and click make it rain once you download blackra1n
then let it reboot and you will have te blackra1n app on your itouch and click that app and Download Cyrus and rock and there you go

You CAN actually but you CANT use blackra1n, you have to use sn0wbreeze.

the first 2 posts are both wrong. use the newest version of redsn0w, not blackra1n. and if u can, install rock, as it is much faster than cydia

My method AND yours lead to a sucsessful jailbreak, It's down to opinion whats better, I say Cydia, you say Rock. It's up to him, as long as he jailbreaks... Thats all that matters!

what im saying is that with blackra1n u have to restore your ipod, unlike with redsn0w.

and cydia loads about 10x slower than rock does...

I know, As I said he can pick whatever one he wants. I used both (redsn0w for my iPods and blackra1n for my iphone) I think their both great.
