Can you post your current pc specs? Day-Z is a very poorly optimized game, it relies on more cpu then graphics power. You would need a decent system all around.

So , you wanna play dayz but you dont know what you need for this game...
well i will tell you that it is the most unoptimized game i have ever played,
so you will need some pretty decent stuff if you want a good dayz experience.
here are my specs: AMD FX(tm)-4100 Quad-Core Processor 3.60 GHz.
8 gigs of ram.
and a gtx 660 ti duel fan graphics card.
all of this stuff is pretty nice and i can run bf3 on ultra with 70 frames,
but on arma, its always 20 - 35 frames depending on what my settings are on and how
many people are in the game...
if you want a good experience you should at least get an intel i7 quad core procesor with
around 5-6 GHz. a gtx 660 or better should be fine.
and ram doesent relly matter as long as you have more than 4-6.
i hope that this helped answer some of your questions.

That's funny because my fps is way higher than your's(on mixed high/max graphics) and I have a worse computer than you and no you don't need an i7 with 5-6 ghz, that's just stupid.
Op my specs are:i3 3220, 8 gig ram and a gtx 660(none of that is overclocked).

1) You do not need a GTX 660 or better. As I run it on a HD7770 at around a constant 30fps
2) You dont need a i7 at 5-6ghz clock speed. Just about any 'decent' CPU will run Dayz.

DayZ standalone is a game that is not out.

You are talking about Arma 2 with Operation Arrowhead??
Please clarify what DayZ you are talking about.

Anyways. Arma 2's DayZ is horribly optimized.
But you will need not the best but "OK" specs.
I have a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250.
It can't run Battlefield.

I hope you know at 5-6 GHz it would be way to unstable and would die a horrible death.
