It is all about your preference of gaming. Research the stats and features of each console then choose based on what would fit you best. If you also play with a lot of friends you might want to go with what they get just so it is more fun.

You should get none of them and get a PC. Why you ask?

PC is free online!
Can do a lot more than any console!
Better graphics! (depending on your specs)
Better gameplay!
All the Steam salez!

For the price of the new consoles you could easily build a beastly gaming machine that would last you years. It'd always be up-to-date unlike the consoles.

Agree, it's more about what console you like best, if you already have a ps3 or xbox 360.
But Im considering switching to ps3 as I dont play that much so paying for live is just waste of money :p
Even though you can't trust the security on ps3.. and ppl go online with a jailbroken ps3, flying around on cod.
But that probably gets fixed on the ps4, most likely..

He probably wants a console because his friends have them. Not many people can build a pc and pre-built pc's are rip offs. And for $400 assuming he goes with ps4, he could barely build a mid range computer, that can play modern games but not at max settings. and it would only last about a year or two if he wants to play new games then he needs to upgrade.

OP: I am personally getting ps4 because I like the features, I don't want the kinect, and my friends are getting it, so look up the features and see if its something you would be interested in.

I agree with all of this except it does not have more RAM, the Xbox One has 8gbs as well but the PS4 has better, faster RAM

Xbox One has better LIVE features it has very good exclusives, now sony fans dont hate, PS4 has good exclusives but doesnt have all the cool stuff like skype, twitch, Snap mode is when you play a game and talk on skype at the same time.
