PlayStation 3 (Q4 2006): 78.47 million
Xbox 360 (Q4 2005): 78.05 million

PlayStation 2 (Q1 2000): 157.68 million
Xbox (Q4 2001): 24.65 million

Microsoft went for the cheap shot (smart but aggressive) to dominate the market shares by releasing the Xbox 360 first, whilst this succeeded it clearly didn't last. Those sales figures are as updated as you'll find them (don't use Wikipedia because the PlayStation 3 sales figures are months old), and as you can see the PlayStation 3 has sold more in 7 years than the Xbox 360 has in 8 years. The reason that almost every kid you find is an Xbox fanboy is because the Xbox 360 was released first, and being such a big release that's what most of them were bought by their parents at the time, so they've grown up with their system and refuse to try anything else, it's quite pathetic honestly seeing as many of them have never even owned a Sony console.

I hate to make a fool of you, but the fact is that Sony are the larger company that have always offered more in their systems, end of story.

You do realize your comment about sales the Ps3 was dated in 06, while the Xbox was dated in 05. Im sorry but you are very dumb trying to compare sales with a 1yr difference... In 2010 Ps3 had sold 37 million consoles where in 2010 the same time Xbox 360 had sold 47 million and that isn't including the past 3yrs where Xbox has been leading the console sales. Look up sales to this day and try coming back. Good luck lol.

I'm sorry that this is getting so humiliating for you, but those dates were of the console release dummy, if you think that 2010 figures are significant now then you really need help. Those figures are all up to date as of June 2013 (latest available), the PlayStation 3, you can only expect that the Xbox 360 had sold more in 2010 because the PlayStation 3 was still gaining on the Xbox 360, the Xbox 360 was released first after all, in a greedy attempt to hold more market shares. The fact is that the PlayStation 3 has a higher number of sales per year than the Xbox 360.

Also, I'd like to highlight the fact that I have no issue with a company making a tactical move such as releasing first purposely to hold a higher market share, but Microsoft rushed their console out when it wasn't ready to be released. It had one of the worst releases in gaming history, I find it hilarious how everyone suddenly forgets about the awful release line up, poor software, and absolutely disgraceful hardware faults that caused the RRoD in MANY consoles over this generation. Maybe if fanboys opened their eyes they'd realize where the greed is really coming from.

The Xbox 360 only has more sales in North America, the PlayStation 3 is leading everywhere else in the world, it's funny because the majority of the ignorant fanboys seem to be from North America too.

Opinions on this website mean nothing to the general population, because this website clearly has an overwhelming amount of ignorant kids that have no idea what they're talking about, and refuse to open their eyes to the facts.

It's not about how many things change, it's about whether or not the changes are good. If they made the Xbox One a mobile phone would that make it better because there's been a huge change? No! There are very few negatives, if any for the PlayStation 4, yet there are a ton for the Xbox One. Whenever it comes to a debate Microsoft fanboys seem to forget about the negatives and act as though there's nothing wrong with the over priced restrictive trash. I'm not buying either console at release, but I'm a PC and Xbox user, so I think my opinions are as good any.

It also amazes me that last generation put Sony in a similar position to that of Microsoft now, the PlayStation 3 was more expensive, and many people didn't need the hardware bonuses. It's so hypocritical for people to bash that, and condone the same actions of the Xbox One.

It doesn't even matter if Ps3 barely beat Xbox 360. We are all looking forward to the future of gaming consoles and because of that and how both Xbox One and Ps4 are releasing around the same time everyone is fighting over them. It's a preference... if you like Sony go Ps4 is you like Microsoft go Xbox. I do wonder though why a lot of Ps4 fanboys are going into the Xbox One section and flaming...
