Well, there are several ways to recruit.
1. Go onto global chat, spark up some conversation, tell them what your clan has to offer, dragons? pekka? loyal? active? It's like you're trying to sell a spot in your clan, you will need to persuade and get the readers attention.
2. Go on to a website (TTG, SC Forums, any other website) and post a 'recruitment' thread. Tell the readers what your clan has to offer, what benefits will there be upon joining? Is your clan active? Friendly? adult based? UK based? Give them reasons to join your clan. Give them something to aim for (ex. elder) Tell them how it is earned in the clan. (loyalty? donations?)

What kind of members are in BeneathShadows?

How do you become an elder?
You can only earn elder. You must earn it by showing determination, loyalty, and by helping members, and even helping to recruit, basically you need to have a very positive attitude towards the clan.

To start off you're going to want to give them a warm welcome when they join, who wants to stay in a clan with people that aren't friendly? Tell them the rules, but in a mature, friendly way. Tell them what your clan has to offer, what the clan does (Farm, trophy hunt) Give them some nice compliments on their base, ask them where they're from, what their in to, (hobbies?) and just try and keep the conversation lit for a while.

Having 5 builders is always a nice bonus. If you can't buy the builders for any reason or just don't want to here are some tips on how to save up gems for them;
- Remove bushes/trees and save the gems
- Complete achievements and save them also
Eventually you will have enough, if you have patience that is.
Keep your builders busy at all times if possible, that will gain you xp quicker. Donations are also a very big factor, if you donate 2000-3000 per week, that's almost an extra level each week. (depending on your level)

You should always try and max your base before upgrading to the next TownHall because there is a loot decrease. For example TH9 gets 30% LESS loot than a TH8 would. So it's harder to farm the higher th you have.
From my experience you should upgrade in this order;
1. Splash damage, LAB (mortars, wiz)
2. Towers (Archer, tesla)
3. Cannons
4. Air defence, CC
5. Barracks, spell factory
6. Collectors
And in between upgrade your BK, AQ and walls.

I use a basic farming army 150 archers and 50 goblins. I farm around 1300, and only look for bases with gold/elix in collectors. Try to go for only 50 troops used... Because then you can raid every 5-10 minutes. Don't focus on trophies, in farming trophies mean nothing. So just go for easy collector bases.
