I've been thinking about this for a while now. What if we had the ability to clone animals, people, crops, etc.?
We have cloned before, but only sheep. We haven't conducted any research on human cloning, due to ethnic beliefs. But let's pretend that isn't a problem.
The way i see it, there are ups and downs:
Ups:
-Could cure world hunger by cloning healthy food/crops.
-Could benefit space exploration by sending clones instead of people.
-Could act as volunteers for charities, such as the Red Cross, blood donations, etc.
Downs:
-Would human clones have rights?
-Could they rebel?
-What if terriosts got ahold of cloning tech?
I think the biggest problem are the downs, it'd be difficult to establish a fine line. And we don't exactly know how aware they are, wether their trained or are just born.
What do you think? Do you think that we should try cloning? Or should we not?

Moral and ethical reasons are also a big factor in this.
However cloning has also done wonders in the sciences.
They have created artificial meat out of stem cells. that we can eat that doesn't harm animals. They have also cured many diseases by working on artificial tissue that was cloned.
I believe cloning is a good thing, to an extent that is. I can cure diseases by making research faster, can cure world hunger like you mentioned, and has the ability to make our species live on if a catastrophic even ever happens. However I do not think we will see cloning live humans in our life time, due to the moral and ethical reasons in our time period.

Wow, good post. and the user "Lets" reply was a perfect.
Should help answer some questions, the moral and ethical standing does play a large part of this war on right and wrong.

Lets wrote Moral and ethical reasons are also a big factor in this.Let's hope we do. I remember reading a book called, "Clone Codes" that had clone servants, and I honestly can see clones being mistreated in some parts of the world. Depending on their awareness, they could rebel, which is a startling thought.
