The section is really inactive, I really wish there were more programmers on the site, this site is loaded with 12 year olds though, they probably couldn't even name a single programming language but anyway, back to the point I am going to try to contribute more to the section and I hope you guys will to.

Well, this isn't really a topic. It's called the Programming Section for a reason .

I wouldn't expect it to get even more active. It's full of skids here that code a simple calculator and post it here because it apparently won't work. You can't just post your crap here and expect to get an answer. The people shouldn't have to reply to it. Let them figure it out themselves. Do you think Bill Gates posted his source on the internet and says "my .sys files won't load, please help? " It's also amazing how they just don't try. And 99% of the code posted here I've thought of a workaround in 5 seconds at looking at it all. I think it's great people are interested into coding, but most of the stuff here, people don't even know what pointers are. Trust me it won't be active. And people like me wish it was. And html/php stuff I have no interest in, after all most websites are just forums using mybb...

I don't post here a lot because most of the people here do web things, I'm not a web guy.

Most of the things posted in this section either don't interest me or discuss languages that I am not familiar/efficient with.

I try my best to help anybody out with any web development questions they may have involving PHP, HTML, CSS, SQL etc.

It's almost like the compiler doesn't tell you exactly what line and character the error occurs..

I know it kinda sucks that there is never discussion on here about programming, but the thing is this a gaming site. Sure it used to be about modding, but not any more, at least certainly not to the extent it used to be. So if there isn't much intelligent modding discussion, then there certainly isn't going to much about programming. If you want to read and talk about programming, then go to a site that is mainly about programming. The places I mainly go are [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] and [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] If I have an issue with my code, then I google it and usually end up on [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] . If you're looking for tutorials, then I suggest you look on YouTube. Or if you want some more professional videos then you can always go on iTunesU and watch lectures from real Universities. I know both Stanford and MIT have a lot of CS classes up that are really good. I watched both CS106B and CS107 from Stanford and found them to be very informative.

Problems with this section:
Most of the topics that ask for help is because people cant be bothered doing a 30 second google search!
The same posts arise all the time. I.E folk saying there going to be the next best programmer then they are never seen in the section again.
No one here can take constructive criticism. Folk just rage on a bit of negative feed back.
Any good programmer thats been here has been banned OR has went to a forum where there work get respected.
Loads of folk here just steel your code & not give credits.

I regularly check this forum but I never really post any of my work here because no one respects the effort been put into it.
