I've started playing about a year ago and I've been enjoying it since!
There are two different types of paintball
Speedball: Uses Speedball guns they have triggers that enable you to shoot way faster than regular paintball guns, this takes place at a course designed for Speedball. In some cases even use a different type of air to fuel the gun here's an example:

Woodsball: Uses guns designed specifically for rugged environments, usually played in woods and uses trees and other obstructions for cover. Here's an example:

I've played Paintball twice..
Don't think it's as popular in the UK than in the US.
Great fun though!

I have been playin paintball for 4 years now.
I like both Woods and Speedball, but I am more of a speedball kinda guy

I play one a Team called "Team Redline", We used to be a Speedball team, But we just didnt like it anymore. So WoodsBall is all we play. I use my Proto PM9 With my Dye Loader. Love this gun!

I play paintball now and again, i like airsoft more.
