The 315k or whatever is BEFORE TAX, and Spain's tax bracket for high earners is 50%, so in reality it's more like ~160k a week. Spurs have also taken the piss with negotiating so what looks like is happening (and also what I think will happen) is that Madrid are going to stop trying to buy Bale for that ridiculous price. Because of the breakdown of negotiations that have happened, Gareth is pretty pissed off and has refused to train with Spurs ever again. This puts Madrid in a very strong position as it allows them to pay less.
