Well honestly, the i7 only really speeds up editing/rendering because of its use of Hyper Threading , and its not like the i5 can't do editing it just might take longer.

intel stays allot cooler under high performance but amd's newer processors are slightly better for the price and for what you get but for the price of 250gbp i would go for intel even though i am with amd i think intel would be better for that price range and you wont be trying to cool a nuclear reactor like amd. also the zalman z9 plus is a good case for a cheep price and has really good cooling and good air flow

Well that's not entirely true. AMD's max operating temperature is 60 degrees while Intel processors are around 90 degrees. So if you meant literally colder, then thats wrong. If you meant it scales with performance output, well you'd need to show me graphs before i believe it.

A case for ten? Don't bother.

You've actually got it backwards. AMD FX CPUs run very cool in comparison to current Intel CPUs, but they have lower T.J. max temps as well. Haswell CPUs are terrible for overclocking as you're almost completely limited by the silicon lottery.

Well, I'm going to go a bit :offtopic:

If you have a budget like that, there is no reason you should be getting a membrane keyboard with it. Remove it from your build and purchase a nice cherry mx blue keyboard such as a Das or Ducky. Filco is also a great option! What makes a mechanical keyboard more special? Take a read here: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] and here [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

From what I've seen, AMD dominates the market for anything cheaper than 140 GBP. i3? Get a 6350/6300. Pentium? Get an Athlon.

There is no better brand - they both have processors that are the best at their price point.
