personal choice on that really it depends on what you are trying to do to the video to edit or enhance or add to it after you are done recording that really determines what software is most suited to your needs. since your on the pc and plan to simply record your screen why not google around for a open source recording software or describe a little more on what you are planning to do with the recording ie just upload to YT as is, or editing options you might want to make use of etc.

I find Fraps to be good screen recording software. It doesnt really drop your FPS much and gives good quality.

Fraps for youtube and i would recomend xsplit for better mic quality and cam.

Use Fraps to record gameplay & use sony Vegas to edit.
