It really looks by your reaction to killing him... you didn't mean to do it that way. Still yes, it is the best way to kill him. I normally always get Mule Kick with one of the Staffs (dependant on how I want to kill or control my trains), MG08 (with Deadshot for murdering the train), and a PaP DSR 50 just for the Panzer. Works great for me personally.
