The HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition Plus records your gameplay on both Macs and PCs. We include the Showbiz application and a free download to Hauppauge Capture for Windows, and a link to a free download of the HDPVR Capture application for Macs.

Optical SPDIF Connector

HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition Plus was specially designed for the dedicated Xbox 360, PS3 or PC gamer, with an optical SPDIF connector, full 5.1 channel surround sound audio recording and surround sound pass through to your home theater system.

HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition Plus features 1080p60 'no-delay passthrough' for HDMI in and out (with an extra long HDMI cable included to connect to your TV monitor), Component-In to HDMI-Out to support the PS3, plus a record button mounted on top of HD PVR 2 to start the recording without having to be at your PC. The HD PVR 2 CD-ROM includes our Personal Logo inserter so you can "burn" your own logo into your recordings. And HD PVR 2 has a smaller design to make carrying to your friend's home to record their game play super easy.

Powered No-Delay Passthrough for Always on Zero-Delay Recording and Gaming

HD PVR 2 has an active "no-delay" video pass through, externally powered, which gives zero delay on your TV monitor and allows you to make HD video recordings while you play your games at the same time. HD PVR 2 connects to your Xbox, PS3 or PC gaming system and displays your video on your TV set with no delay!

HD PVR 2's video pass through is externally powered and runs in a low power mode when your PC is removed. Compared to USB bus powered recorders, which shut off when you remove your PC and are much cheaper to manufacture, the HD PVR 2's powered pass through always works even when you shutdown your PC. With USB powered game recorders, as soon as you remove your PC the passthrough stops and you need to disconnect all of your cables. Painful! But with HD PVR 2, you are always ready to play even if you don't have your PC connected.

The new Hauppauge Capture application is a free download. It has a quick response Record button which allows you to start recording at a moments notice. The easy-to-use editor allows you to quickly trim videos. Once your video is ready, upload it to Youtube with the built-in YouTube upload feature. The application includes a simple to use video quality selector, built-in scaler (a feature unique to the HD PVR 2), and screen shot option so you can capture snapshots of the best of your gameplay.

Stream and record in-game chat

Record and stream in-game chat with the microphone mixer, which is built into the Hauppauge Capture application. Plug a microphone into your PC, set the audio volume level, and then record or stream your game play with your chat! You can adjust the volume at any time or mute your audio.

High-Performance, High-Definition Recording

At the heart of the HD PVR 2 is a pro-quality H.264 high-definition encoder that was originally designed for the broadcast TV industry. The HD PVR 2 makes high-performance, high-quality video recordings at up to 1080p30 resolution, 720p, or 480p. The box includes all cables necessary to connect your Xbox 360 or PS3. The HD PVR 2 records in the AVCHD format, which is the format used to master Blu-ray discs. You have the option of recording at data rates from 1 Mbs to 13.5Mbs, so you can choose the video quality you need.

There are two H.264 formats you can choose when recording a video:

TS, which is a generic 'transport stream' compatible with many digital media players. TS files are also called 'AVCHD' files and are used to burn Blu-ray DVD movies (Blu-ray burner software not included).
MP4, which is compatible with many video editors, like Sony Vegas.
