These Gold Giveaways are getting a little old. There's at least one giveaway on the last 6 pages of General Discussion.
I know it's nice and all to give Gold to other members and such, but do you have to make a post about it? It seems like a cry for attention for gifting.
I wish people would just gift the active members that they notice around the forums, not sift through pages of begging people.

I think in honesty some do it for easy rep/thanks

But you also have to consider that some genuinely don't know who to gift and look through the posters for someone with decent enough rep/posts

Exactly. You don't need a topic and 5 pages of replies to make a decision.

I acknowledge with you. What if the person wins is on this site one hour a day, but the there's active members who aren't lucky enough to win.

There may be ulterior motives in play when users do Gold Giveaways, but it is mostly done as it provides a fun and exciting way for non-gold users to have a chance in getting gifted. Also, if you take into consideration the amount of people who gift gold, and then the amount of active/helpful members on the site, many people tend to struggle with finding deserving users to gift, that is why they do gold giveaways.

Sure people get more thanks/rep from hosting the giveaways opposed to looking for deserving users, but hey, whatever, thanks/rep is really only cosmetic.

I entered once I got it, haha.

But I can't really say it bothers me, but I do think that it was better when it wasn't allowed, when people actually had to do something to earn the gift of gold, instead of now entering a number or something like that.

I think you might also have to consider the fact that gifting randomers sometimes works well.

When I first got gifted, I was on 300 posts. By the end of that month, I was completely involved with the site. I literally spent all day on the FIFA forums. It can be a great motivator.

Why not just let people do what they please with their money? At the end of the day, they're not hurting anybody, and they are contributing towards the site.
