Why would Rockstar confirm the release for the next generation consoles and PC?

If you know that Rockstar are releasing GTA on the next gen consoles and PC why would you buy it on current gen consoles?

It happened to CoD: Ghosts, because Activision have announced and confirmed the game will be on next gen consoles, pre-orders are down by quite a large margin. Sean and myself were talking about this a few days ago, why would rockstar confirm it on next gen if it will trim down sales? If you think that GTA V wont come out on next gen then you will purchase it for current gen. It's logic.

In my opinion, GTA V will come out on Next gen consoles, they would lose millions of dollars if they didn't.
