What Firmware is it running?: I honestly don't know, 1.5 something I believe.
What is the problem your having?: I tried to update it to 1.6.3 from the iPhone under General Settings. It started to download the update then all of a sudden crashed and went into recovery mode. I need to get out of recovery mode or access files on the iPhone because I have notes I need. I've tried to kick it out of recovery mode with programs but they either do not detect my device or they just restart the phone and it goes back to recovery. I've tried putting it in and out of DFS or w/e mode. Please, any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
im not sure but i think u can use iexplorer to access files in the iphone but if not that try redsn0w to get it out of it

I've tried both. iExplorer doesn't detect it and Redsn0w says it doesn't work on jailbroken devices.
you said you tried putting it into DFU mode? does itunes detect it?
Yes. It is the same as recovery mode, it says I need to recover the device before I can use it. Also, if I put it into DFU mode before I plug it into the computer, it turns back on to recovery mode automatically. Idk if that's normal or not, but yeah.
you should restore through itunes that's all i can think of that would work right now
As I've said, I have important things that I CAN NOT lose on my phone. Restoring it is not an option until I access the notes.

Back up your files on Icloud, Then once your phone has been restored, Simply choose the back up of your device. This can also be done via itunes.
dont u have to have access to the phone to back up to icloudd?or can you do it via itunes?

Sorry if this is obvious, I've never used iCloud before.

Some things to try first:

1. Turn Off your iphone. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] ork.html

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
Launch Settings app
Tap on Wi-Fi
Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button
