My friend is having a problem to where his Xbox turns itself off within the first few minutes it's on. He let it set and didn't play it for a few days and it still turns itself off within the first few minutes. Dunno what could be wrong with it and it's really not that old. It's a Xbox Slim and I'm pretty sure it's not even a year old yet.

EDIT: He said that it was turning itself on and off all night last night.

An xbox will turn itself off if it reaches a certain temperature, to protect the console from overheating. Check to make sure the fans are operating properly.

It turns itself off literally within the first 3-5 minutes it's on.

It will keep going on and off if its too hot, he would have to let it cool for a while, hope this helped.

There is a chance of an electric shortage in your system or you could possible overheating it causing it to shut off at random points.

I know but on one of my old xboxs the fans were barely working and it would turn off due to heat in a couple minutes. Just make sure the fans are pulling out air, put a piece of paper right behind it to check, if not then I'm not positive what it could be.

It could be overheated, or there could be a problem where the xbox isn't receiving power

He didn't play it for 3 days I think. He got on like 10 minutes ago and it turned itself off 2 times in 10 minutes.

It might not be getting enough power, Check the power bar, Im pretty sure if its red it means its not getting enough power, Get him to try it in a diffrent room thats not on the same breaker as the room where his xbox is
