I plug everything in to the computer and turn it on. But it doesn't show anything on the tv. And I have tried the graphics card and the integrated VGA port. And I tried a different graphics card but it still doesn't show anything.

Ok your first mistake was buying from HP, but if you have tried diffrent cards and still no luck, try clearing the bios and then if that doesnt work your pci-e slot is dead, i would build a new pc if this is the problem. My money is on a dead pci lane

i didn't buy this I got it for free cause my friend gave it to me and I tried to reset the bios with the jumper on the board but I have had no luck some of the people I have ben talking to have said that the bios might be bricked and that I would have to boot from a floppy.

I think I might build a pc since I have a asus m5a97 evo board lying in my closet

but is there anyway to fixe a bad pcie so I can give this to my liitle bro

Change the motherboard, that's the only way i am aware of. Does the GPU's fans spin when you turn the PC on? If it does then the lane isn't dead. If they don't spin it is, that's the only way i can think of checking it. or if you have 2 PCIe plugs coming from your PSU, use a different one just to check it isn't that.

But since you have a M5A97 EVO laying around i would buy the parts over a few weeks or as soon as. I have the M5A97 EVO R.20 and it is one of the best AM3+ boards out, price wise...

Yes the fans spin. And my hdmi switcher sees that it's getting power from the pc. Because it automatically switches to that input. But I don't get picture. And when I plug a keyboard to it it does not work so I can't go into the bios

Could you open it up at all? You can clear the bios by taking out the back-up battery and putting it back in.
