Okay, so I've been extremely curious after hearing a few friends saying that Linux is much better than Windows, except when it comes to gaming, but that doesn't bother me too much! I really want to test out Linux, and I don't want to create a virtual machine, because I don't have the patience for it. In general, I created this topic to ask if I were to create a windows restore point if I could restore it and revert back to Windows 8, if I decide that I don't like Linux? If not, are there any simple ways that I could do this? I'm not exactly the greatest with computers, so please keep it simple, thanks in advance!

If you want to switch from Windows to a Linux operating system, I'd personally start with Ubuntu.
I'd also test it out in a VM, as I'm not sure if there is any easier way.

Linux is a great OS but you need to know how to use it.

It is very technical in some places and very simple in others, but the overall layout is brilliant and is super fast when running it on a SSD. I have it on my Hyper-V Virtual Machine, I find it hard to use sometimes, but I have gotten used to it.

But no, it isn't better than Windows as most games are Windows optimized.

Ubuntu is a great place to start, but is still technical, so you better start reading up on how to use Linux, or I wouldn't bother.

Myself I started out on Linux Mint(better than ubuntu imo) It will take a bit of time to learn the ropes but you will pick it up in no time. If you wanted to have the option to go back to windows whenever you want dual booting linux and windows would be your best option.

You don't have the patience for a virtual machine but you want to back up and potentially restore Windows? A VM is going to be the quickest and easiest way to try it.

Ubuntu and Mint are viewed as the most user-friendly. From there, you need to do your own research if you want to try other distros because what's best for you depends on your preferences and what you'll be using your computer for.
