So before people go posting this all over this forum (like people have been posting it all over my newsfeed), I just want to inform you all it is FAKE. And it was easy to come to this conclusion after only about 5 minutes of research.

1. The domain is registered with "Namecheap.com". NASA would not register a domain with "Namecheap.com".

2. The website only has 1 viewable page, and this page was created using a TEMPLATE design, found on 'themeforest.com': [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

I think that if NASA was going to make the biggest announcement in history, they would take the time to design their own page.

3. In the source code, there are 2 names prominently mentioned. these are 'Mathias Bynens' and 'Brian Mcallister', after one simple google search, I found both of their twitter accounts:

Surprise, surprise... They're both web designers! (and lazy ones at that)

4. Also, NASA has been CLOSED due to the Government Shutdown, I doubt they'd take the time to pull a stunt like this, the people behind this hoax just decided to do it now BECAUSE nasa has been shut down, and they're not going to reply to anyone asking whether this is fake or not. So I did it for you.

So yeah, there's probably tonnes more proof that I could dig out supporting the fact that this is a steaming pile of HOAX, but I think this is enough.

So let's just not talk about it any more and give them more attention, all they're trying to do is get people's email accounts.
