Sean wrote I was reading on Reddit that the feds had access to the servers since mid-2012 I don't know the site or how it works but if thats the case i'm sure they have pinned a lot of people already.

The owner using stackoverflow was a bit careless.

you are correct there will be other sites like slikroad but smaller but the point is that they must have known about it for years . What made them decide to stop it now rather then ealier?

Just because you know a site exists, doesn't mean you have the power to take it down. And, what would be the point if you can't arrest and prosecute the people running/using the site?

Also, it's been said recently, that a good 76%( I think it was 76) of Tor is already 'tapped' by the US Government.

It's just another case of the Internet being ravaged by the powers at be, most of the articles are crap, SR was a nice community really, there were NO arms sales, or sales of hitmen, just drugs, and wares.

Don't believe everything you read though, the NSA claimed they could break any current online encryption in a short space of time, yet demanded the SSL keys for Lavabit, it's just more scare mongering. I'm going off topic here lol.

Just so you know, SR was not the first(and it won't be the last) There was a massive site before it, I can't remember the name at the moment, but they got very very careless, started taking money via PayPal and GCX, and they got shutdown very quickly, and A LOT of arrests were made. SR was much more secure, and refused to let sellers use any other payment method. Worked well for a long time

It was The Farmers Market!
