First off, I don't know everyone's situation at home, and I understand that but I live with my mom and my step dad (my dad has never been around for 18 years).

Secondly let me say this subject really hits me because a lot of people in my family are alcoholics and act obnoxious when they are drunk.

I also want to say that, yes I understand that it is their decision to drink and what not, but this is just my little rant for those who want to read.

My step father is a regular alcoholic, he comes home drunk every night, yelling at me and my brother for no reason then will randomly fall asleep being the drunk he is. My mother is not as big as an alcoholic because she got a DUI a couple of years ago. They will regularly go out til late, and come home wasted being idiots and breaking stuff. With me being 18 I am used to it, but it still gets to me when they come home wasted trying to give me life lessons and all this BS.

Basically, to get to the point, I just hate when parents come home and throw all this BS on you and cry and try to make you feel sorry something they did or whatever. Some of you might not care and think, hey it's their choice to go out and get wasted, but I find it annoying when they try getting all deep down and emotional with you.

Anyone feel the same?

My parents have been drinking ever since I was born. They kicked my sisters out and now I got kicked out. I moved into my grandparents house, started a new school, got a job, and saving up for a car. I would have never gotten the chances I had today if I was still living with my parents.

Thing is, my grandparents have to pay $2,000+ to get custody of me. And I don't want them to pay it. But, I guess they're going to do it anyways.

Sorry to hear about your situation as well.

I can see why you would hate this, and I would too if my parents acted like this, or anyone I know in general.
I would try to avoid them, but I understand that you probably aren't able to do that when they are drunk.

It's a bad situation anyway you put it.

my dad is an alcoholic. he works 5 times a week and all of his money goes on alcohol and my mum has to work to pay the bills. we sent him to rehab 3 months ago that worked for 1 week then he went back to drinking.

That is pretty harsh. Sucks you don't get to spend time with the people that gave birth to you.

Don't worry your 18 and soon probably going to get ready to move out anyways. Just try to keep up with the their bullshit along enough until you can get a stable job, move into your own place and if you cant afford it, get roommate. For now I would avoid them much as possible and try staying at friends when it becomes unbearable.

I would move in with my grandparents for the time being, as they treat me like their own son, but they currently have custody of my 2 cousins because my uncle lost them to heroin abuse.
