Sometimes you 'accidentally' download a fake antispy utitlity. Especially FakeAlert and LooksLike.win32.trojan
You'll know its there because it tells you it has found 00s of viruses and for a fee they will clean it. Of course you wont be able to update or run MBam or any of your virus cleaners.

Go here and register. Run Rkill. This wont clean the virus but will stop all running processes to allow you to manually run your antiMalware tools.
In order of preference - Malwarebytes (if it wont run, right click and rename it to mbam.doc) spybot S&D, Spyware doctor and as a last resort download and run a 30 day trial of Trojan hunter [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] this is for pay trojan scanner, but it uninstalls quite cleanly)
If you're still in trouble. download and burn an iso of either Trinity Repair disc, [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] (read the readme file)
