Hey guys, I was wondering what you guys were doing after high school. If you're going to college or something similar, like a trade or a vocational school, what're you doing now to prepare for that?

Also - for those of you who are out of high school, what are you doing now and is what you're doing in the ball park of what you planned on doing before you got out of high school?

I, personally, want to be a banker. I know for sure I don't want to do the sales portion/side of banking but more in the field of management and such. What I'm doing now is taking on an apprenticeship-type thing with a guy who goes to my church who's the president of basically half of my state (for Wells Fargo), so I'd say it's a pretty good way to get started.

Because I'm 17, we're gonna try getting me some sort of under-18 job until I am of age and then I'll work as a simple bank teller until I go off to college, which might I add is going to be at Northwest Nazarene University in Boise, Idaho. On top of this apprenticeship, I'm talking to different managers and higher-ranking workers at various banks in my area to get a feel or idea of what different professions do in the industry.

Anyways, back to my initial question... What do you want to do and what're you doing now? Of course, college isn't for everybody and that's okay.

Over the past year or so, while being a Junior in high school I've wanted to be an accountant, a corporate attorney, and somewhere in the medical field even... Well, I wouldn't say I "wanted" to be any of those things, but I was exploring my options on what I wanted to be, and now I know that being in finance is what I want to do.

But an accountant is a great career!

That's another great career.

I know a few people (who're younger in high school, but still have a lot of potential) who want to be orthodontists and oral surgeons, etc. I'm not too sure why a lot of people want to get into that field, but I'm sure the pay is phenomenal.

I'm sure a lot has to do with the pay. Also now a days people are so obsessed with how they look or how there kids are going to look so braces are a popular thing and they cost a lot of money which goes back to the pay.
