Not sure how the schooling system is in America but in Australia,
You go to primary school (ages 4-12)
Then high school (ages13-16, you to grade 7-10.)
The college (17-18/ grade 11 and 12)
Then if you want and you have finished college yo can go to university.
Just thought I say that before I say what I did.
After finishing grade 10, I went t he first few weeks of college, found it average.
So I dropped out and now work in the coal mines (coal and iron ore mines are big in Australia since they are our main export)
No bad, earn 100k a year at the age of 17 for driving a dump truck for 12 hours a day, 5 days a week.

In America the schooling system is like this
4-5 years old Pre School
5-6 years old Kindergarten
7-12 years old is Grades 1st - 6th
13-14 years old Junior High (7th and 8th grade)
15-18 years old High School (9th - 12th)
Then from there you can chose to be done with school or attend College/University.
You can also drop out at 16.
