all this spider news is just the media and newspapers hyping it up and putting fear into people because they've got nothing else to do false widows are here and have been for years they will not kill you , as for black widows they are not here as soon as they would of arrived they would die there not use to our climate and weather in the UK so would not survive dont worry .

-Monsterr- wrote there is also black widows came over. they seem to have climatized to the bad uk weather

There are no black widow spiders, the spiders that everyone is talking about are false widow spiders a relation to the black widow but no where near as dangerous. They've been in the country for around 100 years anyway and in the South-west and have only recently spread across the country. Seriously everyone is so hyped up about this, if you read what the scientists say (and not the newspapers) that they won't harm you if you don't provoke them and they don't have a fatal bite. They mostly live in dark areas, it's not like they are sitting somewhere ready to attack you. I live in the south-east of England and there are many in my garden.

False Widow spiders thing is true I've found one already with a yellow skull shape thing on its back safe to say it received the death penalty.I heard these came from a truck that was transferring them to somewhere in Scotland and the van crashed.

The Black Widow has supposedly came from a Container from America that was damaged at the Docks and they have just spread from there but that's all I have heard could be just rumors.

The false widow has been in the UK for more than 100 years now with hardly any fatalities. I don't see why everyone here in the UK are only just now getting worried about it.

You can buy things to keep them away, what I would do is clean everything in your house, keep it clean and make sure it's dusted. And you shouldn't see as much spiders in your house. But the black widow spider is very small, so when you're outside be alert for them.
