but to answer your question you can only have 1 house or gayrage at a time.

I'm sorry but as the expensive apartments have a built in garage, surely you should be able to go buy another. I need another. 3 cars I want to get but my garage is 9 cars full

Sorry but atm you could only have 1 property (apartment or garage) at a time, I would like to have multiple garages too
