This may be the wrong place to post this so please excuse me if i got it wrong

Just wondering if anyone knows anything about the Sony MDR-1R... A friend won them in a raffle and offered to sell them to me for 100GBP 65 less than what they are retail. Have read up on a few reviews but after seeing someone say that they sound worse than Beats studios it really put me off...i have no clue when it comes to audio i tend to just buy things based on their looks [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Normally i would try something before i buy it. But she lives in Germany so it would be slightly difficult.

If it matters they would be used as desktop headphones to listen to metal/metal-core

I'm a music producer/mixer and I need a new pair of headphones. My problem is that I don't know much at all about hardware: I could spend up to a hundred dollars, max. I need these headphones to have great sound quality. I also want them to be closed, obviously. My headphones will be routed to my PC.

Do you want them to be portable? no derp

Have you had significant experience with certain headphones in the past? Beats Solos, they suck
Do you have any other relevant questions? No, thanks

The Shure SE215, Vsonig GR07 Bass Edition, Future Sonics Atrio MG7, should all suit you well. They're bassy and well-built.

Vsonic GR02 Bass Edition or Xeport 5010 for IEMs, Sony XB500 if you can find one cheap for over-ear. The AKG K518 for on-ear.

They should be good for you and that's a good price. I'd pay it if you want something new and you can always re-sell them.

The Vsonic GR06 should be good for you. You can find it on Ebay for under $60.

I don't know about them but I can infer some things. Asus is not known for headphones, headphones marketed as "gaming" tend to be terrible, headsets tend to be terrible, and active noise cancelling is generally bad for sound quality. I would have suggested something else with a separate clip-on mic.

I don't think you'll be able to find the Xeport 5010 or the Future Sonics Atrio X, so I'd suggest the Vsonic GR02 Bass Edition which you can find on Ebay.

I would suggest the AKG K240, Sony MDR-V6, or KRK KNS6400.
