try doing this and see if he has settings ever open. if so maybe you can do something from there

Put it in DFU Mode, and restore it. It will completely wipe the phone of everything.

Put it into DFU Mode (tutorial here ----> Attach the phone to the pc
Turn the phone off
Hold power and home together for *exactly* 10 seconds
Release power but keep holding home until the pc beeps as a USB device is recognized.
At no point will the display come on. Now your restore should work.



then restore it in iTunes.

If that doesn't work then try putting it into restore mode by unplugging the phone from the computer, holding the home button for 5 seconds and plug it in while stile holding the home button and only release the home button when the iTunes logo appears


then it should restore in iTunes
