My School focuses on Education, we don't even have a sports team. I hate my school.

I personally believe schools are focusing way to much money, time, and energy in the sports programs but i think the issue is a lot bigger than just the sports program. I feel as if in today's society all schools care about is money and the highest quiz scores. If the education system would embrace the idea of experience rather than competition schools would function so much smoother! If we had k-6 be the learning of basic knowledge such as Math, History, English, and Science which is the way it is now but rather than continuing the dreadful cycle of pointless learning and actually allowing kids to truly experience their options by having them take introductory programs or life choice programs to determine what their likes and dislikes are sooner than after college so they don't waste their first and most crucial years of your life away and put your self in debt for the rest of your life. I think this may be a revolutionary idea to finally bring america back to being the #1 state in the world! I don't know though I am only 18 so i may be talking out my ass lol
I almost left out that trying to idolize school sports just influences teens to believe that they will one day be living the american dream which in its self is corrupted by today's society any way! I mean the american dream consists of making millions doing nothing and not caring how you do it just with as little work possible! Honestly if we mixed chinks and whites and black and indians together we would have the perfect human lol

SLD wrote Schools in England are the complete opposite and rarely focus on Sports.
True, and it's a let down for us teenage fitness freaks!

It has to do with your school, and how that they want to spend their money. The class of 2013(my graduating yea) had so many people go very prestigious schools. Like The University of Texas at Austin(18), Texas A&M University(21), Rice(2), and our Valedictorian went to Harvard. And yet our Sports programs were always in the Top of the State of Texas. Right now the football team is 11 in the state and 60 in the nation.
Oh and I should conclude with, if the sports programs can rise up to the amount of money that is put into them. It should not matter.

Schools also teach kids good work ethic and team work.
I've also noticed that when you have a good coach they can make a bid difference on the kid, getting him to make better choices and be a better individual.
Sports are good, but it shouldn't take TOO much away from the education

A lot of Schools focus on education but there are certain Schools that focus on Sports in the U.S
Examples:
Oak Hill Academy
Huntington Prep
Simeon
These schools have had some big star athletes (Basketball)
