I believe I've found the closet thing to the force: Telekinesis.

It would make sense, except for creating lightning out of thin air. If it was strong enough, it could throw a person or choke them etc.

The only problem is that your mind would have to be insanely strong. But when we can perfect it, I could see it happening.

Well it is kinda of true because it does say in star wars that a jedi needs a strong mind so it does make scenes

hmm, could the light saber be more to do with heat than light itself and the light is just what is given off by the heat.

perhaps a material which we have not found that go on to extream temperatures without breaking. well ok, it would not be a light saber. but it certainly would have the same effect as one.

super heat generator in the handle with the outer shell of the handle heat proof.

a bit of a more realistic thing that is slightly more likely to evolve.

I actually did enjoy all the StarWars movies. I really wish I had the force or the light saber.
