I am currently in my friends clan with three other of my mates, we can all get access to use the clan clan tag but when we play online matches we don't get xp for the clan. we also can not play clan vs clan when there is four of us in the lobby.

As long as at least 2 of your clan members are playing together, you should earn clan Xp. You earn it through general gameplay.
