I have my build waiting to be purchase, although I have one more concern.
How hard is it to join groups of players and make new friends through PC gaming (sounds kind of gay lol)
But what I love about console gaming is the fact I can play with all of my friends with ease, none of them have gaming PCs and I don't really like the idea of constantly playing every game by myself..
Any advice appreciated...

I find it relatively simple just like console, You can use the in game chat option which can either be text or using a mic which then allows you to communicate to others. I also find people on PC to be a lot friendlier and usually a more mature group.
Also you can use TTG to find fellow PC gamers that have the same interest in games as you, so you never really have to play alone.
There are also programs like Mumble which allow you to make a chat room so you and your friends can communicate (Sort of like an xbox party to relate it to xbox), I use this when I am gaming and have not had any problems.

Teamspeak is another popular party sort of like chat.

My advice is find a game and find a server you enjoy, The chances are is that the server is probably run by a clan. Most clans, generally are very inviting so my advice to you is to try and join one of those clans!

Using game chat and teamspeak are both easy ways to get friends. I have a couple people that are on my friends list because I joined the wrong teamspeak server and started talking to them and ended up adding them. Joining groups is really easy with steam because you just invite them and they are in.

When I started PC gaming I only had one or two friends who played. I rarely play with them now due to busy schedules between the 3 of us, but I don't mind messing with randoms. Over the course of 9 months that I have had my PC I made around 15 new friends because of a Minecraft server.
Edit: I see several people here saying that you should add them, so I shall add on to this.

I had 2/3 friends who PC game already when I joined so there was no issue there. But I used to play (still play) DayZ back when it first came out and I met a few guys then. 2 years later and we are still friends and since recently we set up a new fun gaming clan.
