what software and stuff do i need to get a jtag running online and what websites can i get the software/hardware from if you have some spare time i would like to get ready to use a jtag buying 1 for xmas would really appreciate we have probably all been in a situation like this so please help

You will need XboxLiveStealthEmulated (XBLSE) to get online. As to differences between JTAG's & RGH's, refer to one of the stickies.

for differences between jtag and rgh, its all just how it works. both have the same end result. the only thing that you might care about is boot times. jtags boot almost instantly because all it does is exploit a bug while an rgh will have boot times ranging from a few seconds to a few minutes because it relies on a glitch.
