The Chinese aren't stupid. They know that a war between the two world superpowers wouldn't be quick. I would be a long and devastating war where there may never be a winner. Such a war would cause global destruction and chaos. Not only that but it would completely destroy their economy along with ours. The Chinese have billions of dollars invested into the US and if we go, they're f****d. That's without even considering the destruction in their territory, it would be like 10x worse than the financial instability we encountered after the World Wars, for both China and the US.

As a side note, a war like this would likely trigger the 3rd World War.

The reason a nuclear strike wont happen, is a strike of that size the radiation will travel from the impact zone. A strike elsewhere in the world can have radiation travel great distances.
