What is not to get?
He threw away a harddrive that had a BTC wallet with $7.2 million worth of BTC in it.

-Tacodevil- wroteHodor wroteAlthough true, it doesn't mean they'll give him the hard drive back without wanting a cut of the cash.Lavish wroteTrue, but I would think if even someone else finds it they would have no choice but to go to him with it.Hodor wrote I am sure he will find it eventually, it's not like he thrown it in a volcano.
"He".
It made national news that $7 million dollars is sitting in a landfill in Wales.
I can tell you he won't be the only one looking for it.
The hard drive contains a special cryptographic private key for getting access to bitcoins. Without this key and any other backup, the money is lost forever. And any treasure hunters wont be able to get the access to money even if they find the digital wallet.
That is extortion, which is illegal.
I would rather the original owner find it or no one finds it at all. For his sake.
