Can we ever have a custom picture of ourselves on the X1 like the image above?

You could of always had an option to. But you would of had to use an XBL vision camera.

You were always able to do that with a XBL Camera

You're slow. The question he asked was if you could ever put a personal picture for your gamer pic. So then he replied you were always able to and to answer the guys question is yes you can. I'm not sure how but you sure can. Just Google it.

That was always available on the Xbox 360, you just needed a Xbox LIVE vision camera.

This is what the Dashboard looked like at the Xbox unveil. Since then it has changed into what you have now.
