GTA V
Its clear what Rockstar wants GTA V to be: an elaborate playground that spoofs real life, a place where you live vicariously through three career criminals playing their parts in a moody, satirical story of crime in contemporary America.

Its a proven formula for Grand Theft Auto games, and in the five years since GTA IV, Rockstar has again succeeded in building a virtual world thats an absolute joy to explore. If this game was nothing but a giant sandbox to build your own adventures, Id love it unequivocally. But the second part of that GTA formula, the bit about the satirical story, well.Im not such a big fan of that part this time around.

Anger issues
The tale of Michael, Trevor, and Franklins partnership is an adolescent boys power fantasy, a ridiculous litany of rash decisions punctuated by screaming matches and fueled by rage.

Trevor, Michael and Franklin find themselves embroiled in an incredibly unlikely partnership.
GTA V introduces these men one by one, giving you a few hours to walk in each of their shoes and understand their motives. These opening acts are engaging and well-told: I sympathize with Franklins ambition to make a name for himself. Michaels family, though stereotypically shallow and infantilized, are lovable monsters. Even Trevor, a sociopathic trash-talking misanthropy machine seemingly designed to inspire loathing, is sort of nice to have around as a cathartic toollike a cheap pillow you can scream into after a shitty day.

The game bends over backwards to bring these men together, and the moments when they team up to execute complex multi-stage heists are some of the best missions in the game. But theres bad blood between Trevor and Michael that puts them at odds, and once they start working together, every other character and relationship in the game is drowned out by their incessant fighting. Its clear that Rockstar wrote these characters to bicker with the loving frustration of an old married couple, and sometimes it works well enough to be entertaining, but on the whole I found myself having a lot less fun with GTA V after Trevor joins the team.

Trevor's nonsensical personality shifts justify all the weird excursions you'll likely take, but they make him a grating presence in the main story.
Even Franklin, who makes a clear decision to partner with Michael in order to get noticed and get out of the ghetto, fades into the background as soon as Trevor shows up. I grew to like Franklin the most during my time with GTA V because the game initially portrays him as an outspoken, intelligent street soldier who also happens to be one hell of a wheelman. Sadly, during the games second act he devolves into a sullen third wheel who constantly complains about Trevor and Michael dragging him into dumb, dangerous jobs, yet never shows enough of a spine to actually do anything about it.

Three hoods are better than one
Having the ability to swap between Trevor, Michael and Franklin while youre performing those jobs, often at will, affords you more opportunities to make interesting strategic decisions than any open-world game Ive ever played. If you find yourself in Franklins shoes flying a stolen military helicopter while being chased by the authorities, but you hate flying, you can switch to control Michael firing a machine gun from the choppers back seat. The artificial intelligence is good enough that you can trust the other two men to act competently when youre not in control, which makes the more complicated multi-character missions funinstead of frustratingexperiences.

At almost any time you can switch protagonists, at which point the camera will zoom out to this faux satellite shot of the city before zooming in on the character you've chosen in media res.
This new character-switching system is equally valuable outside missions; I love that when you wind up stranded in the hinterlands of Los Santos after, say, parachuting out of a stolen military aircraft, you can simply switch to another character instead of trying to hoof it back across GTA Vs massive virtual world.

The dream of LA is alive in Los Santos
And shucks, what a world to get lost in. Its Rockstars greatest technological achievement to date, a virtual facsimile of Southern California rendered with exquisite detail. Los Santos is everything you want Los Angeles to be: a sun-kissed city filled with people cruising leisurely between familiar landmarks on preposterously open and navigable roadways.

The city of Los Santos is gorgeous, intricately-detailed, and runs on contemporary consoles with nary a hitch.
Its a joy to explore, though a little disconcerting if you spent formative years in the L.A. area, as I did. You can easily drive from a picture-perfect recreation of Griffith Observatory to LAX in under three minutes, then race through a completely empty LAX parking lot to leap your vehicle over a conveniently-placed ramp near the airport gate and do donuts on the tarmac while jetliners take off and land around you with furious noise that will, if you let it, bring to mind every bad airliner action movie youve ever seen. You can, if you squint, see small fountains of dirt spraying independently from of each wheel, computed and rendered with unparalleled realism by the fierce machine powering GTA V.

That Rockstar managed to build a nearly seamless virtual world of this size and get it running on game consoles that are nearly eight years old is a remarkable feat. You can walk out of Michaels house, drive to a remote airstrip, fly a plane into the stratosphere, parachute into the sea and dive down to the ocean floor without ever seeing a loading screen. The only times I ever noticed the game pausing to load was when I opened the map, which is huge and a bit unintuitive but nevertheless serves to keep you on track by clearly demarcating the locations of missions that advance the main storyline with giant capital letters.

Oddball side missions and activities litter the island of San Andreas.
Still, I couldnt help wandering off the path to investigate the mysterious question marks scattered across the mini-map. They represent the rogues gallery of oddballs who ask you to perform strange tasks that hearken back to Grand Theft Autos legacy of surreal side missions. These Strangers and Freaks missions are optional, but they include some of the most creative missions in the game and youre missing out on something special if you skip them. They arent all winners, of course; for every side mission that asks you to defend yourself against comically homicidal hallucinatory clowns, theres another that requires you to complete a boring, mundane, even borderline offensive task with an irritating character nattering in your ear. Nevertheless, I had the most fun with GTA V when I left the main storyline behind to chase down these side missions and explore the world.

Bottom line
The problem with GTA V is that while the scope and versimillitude of the world itself has grown by leaps and bounds, the narrative is stuck in a state of arrested development. Michaels storybecause thats what this game is, when you get right down to itincludes moments of genuine pathos that are all but drowned out by the cacophony of rage, misogyny, and tired satire spewing out of every major characters mouth. Its no surprise that Michael complains bitterly about being too old for this nonsense; by the end of the game I was ready to agree with him.

GTA V seems to be written to appeal to angry disenfranchised adolescent boys: every problem is solved with lies or force, every woman is either a sex object or a nagging mother figure, and nobody really changes. Perhaps thats a smart business decision; I was an adolescent boy myself when GTA III came out, and Ive been a fan of the series ever since. When it comes to selling product, you could do worse than pander to angry young men.

I am truly awed by the playset Rockstar has built here. If you look to Grand Theft Auto games for an opportunity to play cops and robbers in a virtual world, GTA V is going to give you more than your moneys worth. But if you, like me, also look to Rockstar for signs that it is maturingfor storytelling that tries to be more than bad crime drama and adolescent pathos, or for a strong female characteryou would be better off looking elsewhere.

  • PlayStation 3

Single player/Game Play
This game has an amazing single player the story line is pretty good! But it can be better,Although the story line was messed up from Mw3 But this isnt a modern warfare game,It is Cod Ghost Which i can see why they did not follow it,This game is pretty good but i think they out did themselves So i wonder how they are going to top the next game,So this is a good chance for Activision and Infinity ward to expand their games with all the new features etc.

Multiplayer/Game modes
The multiplayer is good but many people don't like it Personally i like it because the new features they added into it and how hard they worked on it,But i can see why people don't like it from the Modernwarfare games. But just give this game a chance and you may like it!
The Game modesAre good but they don't offer a lot of Xp to unlock as use all the Xp limits are raised higher and makes it harder to level up so fast which is good Because people were prestiged within the first night of game release.

Graphics
The graphics are pretty amazing,But as we all know the game is coming out on Xbox One so this part may change,So for current gen consoles The graphics are pretty good,But can be better because the gun that you are holding looks to far out sometimes which can get annoying very fast,But other wise the graphics are awsome but like how i said before it can be fixed

Game Information

Release Date: November 5, 2013
Developers: Infinity Ward
Publishers: Activision
Genre: FPS
Platforms: Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Xbox 360,Xbox One

Synopsis

So a new year comes around and, of course, a new Call of Duty game has been released. Is it different? Is it the same? Well to be honest there is a lot of familiar territory but it has been improved on for the better.

Campaign
The Campaign is full of action and wild events that will kick you out of your chair. I played Battlefield 4 campaign and i must say that call of duty ghosts win by a large margin based on the action and excitement. The campaign starts off with a quiet moment in Southern California that transitions into a space segment which recalls the recent movie "Gravity". The story mode in "Ghosts" is a "by-the-numbers" installment in the series, but it's still fun. The story is pretty standard (a good "ghost" turns rogue and wants to conquer the world) and the scripted events are solid, but unspectacular. The biggest addition to the campaign is probably Riley, an attack dog which you control a few times during the game.

Gameplay and Multiplayer

There are multiple gameplay modes such as campaign, multiplayer and extinction. I am going to summarize them quickly. The multiplayer is fun and addicting but they added some crappy game modes and took away some fun ones. The campaign is amazing and full of action.. The extinction mode is replace with zombie mode and totally beats zombies. They added Extinction mode which pits you against hordes of aliens as you attempt to destroy alien hives that have been found throughout a set zone. Choosing a class, you help your team defeat the aliens and destroy the hives while giving extra damage, extra health, weapons, ammo... There's a lot to it. It is Infinity Ward's answer to Zombies, and in my opinion, is a step up from the dumb zombies that run in a straight and easy to predict line right into your face. Aliens jump around, climb walls, jump over obstacles. It makes it much more difficult to predict where to aim and what to do next.It is better than the extremeley repetitive zombie mode. Now, on to the better aspects of the game, multiplayer has been greatly improved. Maps are larger and more labyrinth-like, which requires teams to work more closely together rather than trying to lone-wolf it. This makes the gameplay much better since there is less camping, noob-tubing, and quick-scoping. In addition, the weapons you can unlock can be done at your own pace. Instead of having to level up a gun for your favorite attachments you can now buy them anytime you like with squad points (which you earn every time you win a match). I like this idea because I can quickly choose my weapon of choice without painstakingly level up to earn them. The weapons feel better than the previous games, when you fire them you can actually feel the weight and recoil of each one, so it allows you to practice on how to compensate for the weapon you like. If you kill an enemy they might drop an assignment that requires you to do a challenge for some squad points. These can range from killing an enemy while crouched to trying to kill 3 enemies in a row from behind. It's rewarding to do this and it brings more to the overall gameplay. It has the classic modes (Team Deathmatch, Domination) and new fun modes like Blitz and Cranked that add a new dimension to the series. The loadout and method of getting the streaks, perks and weapons you want was a fantastic choice, and adding Squads to the mix added a whole level of playability on top of the core game. With Squad v Squad, Squad Assault, Wargame and Safeguard (the new take on Survival mode), it's like an entire second game added on to the main product. [/font]

Graphics

The graphics do look a little dated, I'm not one to complain about terrible graphics but in this day and age where we are moving to a next gen console it is disappointing. Textures look to enlarged or muddled so objects don't even look like what they are supposed to be. The story is as usual, pretty predictable and straight forward in its design, but at least we aren't fighting Russians for the 3rd time now. It feels as if players blend in with the environment all the time which can make the game feel quite bland.

Controls

Controls are the same as always. Use the trigger buttons to shoot. The buttons above the controller are for grenades. Same button to go prone, crouch. You move with the analog sticks. With the left analog stick you look around. Make sure you are comfortable with the controller or else it will be hard for you to play the game. Therefore if you have played the previous Call of Duties this should be nothing new to you. If you haven't Id suggest looking in the manual or else you will have a hard time.

Personal Opinion

The dedicated servers we were promised are missing (leading to some rubber-banding lag issues that are very frustrating), the Call of Duty app that is the only way to create or maintain a clan is unavailable to the majority of devices, currently, and the Spawn-Trap is alive and well, especially on small maps like Freight. Going 0-13 because every time you spawn, you are instantly killed is not even CLOSE to fun!

In general, I am very satisfied with my decision to buy this new game.

Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel

Game Information
Name: Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel
Genre: Third-person shooter
Release Date: March 26, 2013
Developers: EA Montreal, Visceral Montreal
Publisher: Electronic Arts
Engine: Frostbite 2
Modes: Singleplayer, Co-op, Multiplayer
Platforms: Xbox 360, Playstation 3
Content Rating: 18+

Overview
Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel is the third installmen in the Army of Two series, giving players a front seat ticket to an explosive, destructive thrill ride. With "The Devil's Cartel" being built on the Frostbite 2 engine (that may sound familiar, because that's what Battlefield 4 uses), players are given the ability to destroy almost anything in the game's environment. Previously, players were given the ability to control either Rios or Salem, the main characters of Army of Two, and Army of Two: The 40th Day. In The Devil's Cartel however, players must use (Two) new operatives, Alpha and Bravo, as you tag along Rios and Salem, acting almost as their apprentices.

Gameplay
The gameplay is somewhat clunky, even for delivering itself on that Frostbite 2 engine. I myself was a little confused when I start playing. Everything looked good, but that's it, it's all looks! Some features have remained, such as Overkill Mode which allowed both players to become invincible for a short period of time. In the original Army of Two, teamwork was essential to completing everything. You'd sync up and snipe two targets or even both shoot at a bridge to crumble it as trucks drove above. Back-to-Back Mode has been removed, eliminating the aspect of complete teamwork really. Army of One? Really?

As with the last game, Army of Two: The 40th Day, it seems the franchise is focusing on customization a little too much. Players are given the option to customize many things in The Devil's Cartel, like masks, weapons, armor, etc. As great as the customization features are, it's beginning to take away from the key aspects of Army of Two.

Without revealing the missions on here, I'll let you in on one thing about the Singleplayer in this game. It's very short. There's missions that age on, sure, but overall, it's over before you know it. If they make a fourth installment in the series, I honestly don't know where they would take the main characters.

Now, you have your standard multiplayer, like Call of Duty, Halo, Battlefield, etc., but then you have Army of Two's multiplayer. It's Co-Op. That's it. There's no competitive multiplayer like you'd find in many of today's games. It's odd really, because true multiplayer deathmatch and objective-based gamemodes were in the previous two games. For some reason, they've removed them here. It certainly reflects on the game though, there's almost no variety after completing the Singleplayer Campaign.

Controls
In the above paragraph, I briefed on the controls of the game. Let me get more in detail here. When it comes down to it, everything this game emphasizes on (i.e. destruction, teamwork, etc.) They've taken some of the controls you'd find in Call of Duty, like pressing "X" to reload, "B" to crouch, etc. That brings some familiarity to the scene yes, but it wouldn't matter if somebody paid me to play the game, the functionality and overall gameplay of "The Devil's Cartel" just doesn't deliver this time round.

Graphics
The game looks very good. In fact, it's the best looking Army of Two ever made. As I stated above though, using the Frostbite 2 engine, they were able to accomplish making the game look good. But you can't have a great game by it just appearing pleasant. It has to play well, it has to have a good storyline, and feel good while you're playing it.

Call of Duty: Ghosts review

Game Information

Release Date: 5th November 2013
Developer: Infinity Ward
Genre: Shooter
Platform: Wii, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PC
Age Restrictions: 18+

Gameplay:

Call of Duty: Ghosts' single player gameplay is close to identical to that of most recent Call of Duty games, tasking you to run from one end of the level to the other, occasionally clicking the X button to achieve a specific goal, like planting a bomb or sabotaging a vehicle along the way.

Call of Duty: Ghosts also has the same squad mechanic, ensuring you always have at least one AI buddy coming with you on the mission. As well as providing help in firefights, the buddy also ensures that you're never unclear what you're doing, and will shout out commands and advice about what you're meant to do next. While this worked in previous games, given the arrival of numerous more open and expansive shooters, it at times can make Call of Duty: Ghosts' single player campaign feel like little more than an interactive movie that you're being pulled through.

Singleplayer

The campaigns of Call of Duty have been heavily criticised as dull and unimaginative by several critics ever since the hugely acclaimed, ground-breaking brilliance of Modern Warfare. I think these critics have generally been over-demanding moaners; I enjoyed the single-player campaigns of all three Modern Warfare titles quite a lot, and really dug both the Black Ops stories.
Ghosts is the weakest single-player campaign of the series since Call of Duty 3, unless you count the abysmal Vita game Black Ops: Declassified. It's not terrible, but those cries of "dull" and "unimaginative" definitely ring true in this one.
The story is set in the near future and has several South American nations align as a military superpower called the Federation and waste the USA with a space-based super weapon. One could assume this was done as revenge for the decades of atrocities the US has inflicted on their neighbours to the south in real life, but the game is set in an alternate reality and it's all got something to do with the oil industry.

Multiplayer

This is the mode most people buy Call of Duty for, this is the mode that has made it the king of first-person shooters and unsurprisingly, this is the best mode of Ghosts.
There's a certain, specific buzz I get from playing Call of Duty online. I first got it first at a friend named Mike's place just after the Xbox 360 launched in New Zealand. He had one, with a broadband connection, and Call of Duty 2. I became addicted, and have been since then.
Ghosts is built on an all-new engine that's moving the franchise into next-gen, but it still has that quintessential Call of Duty buzz. This is pure COD, done very well.
You can play as a female soldier for the first time. You can also customise how they look and what clothes they wear, which is a very simple but quite satisfying addition to the multiplayer.
Gone is the much applauded 'Pick 10' system of setting up loadouts introduced in Black Ops II. Instead, you get a 'Pick ?' system where you choose a different set of perks of varying value, and you have more of that value if you drop off a secondary weapon or grenade. It's good, but a little needlessly complex compared to the simple goodness of Black Ops II.

Graphics

This game has improved graphics from all the other games in the Call of Duty Franchise, This game uses good animation for attacking other players, It uses real life graphics and not cartoon graphics.

Conclusion

Call of Duty: Ghosts is one of the best games I have played, I prefer the campaign the most as I do not really enjoy multiplayer too much, Extension mode is pretty boring to me. The graphics are not a disappointment, but the multiplayer mode is.

Game Information
Name: Grand Theft Auto V
Genre: Third Person Shooter
Release Date: September 17, 2013
Developers: Rockstar North
Publisher: Rockstar Games
Modes: Singleplayer & Multiplayer
Platforms: Xbox 360 & PS3
Content Rating: 18+

Overview
Grand Theft Auto V is one of the biggest releases in 2013. It is a game allowing the player to interact with the game. You can free roam around the city of Los Santos or complete jobs for various people. Los Santos is a sprawling metropolis full of self-help gurus, starlets and fading celebrities struggling to stay afloat in an era of economic uncertainty and cheap cable TV. Amidst the turmoil, three very different criminals risk everything in a series of daring and dangerous heists that could set them up for life.

Gameplay
The gameplay in Grand Theft Auto V is very realistic and lets you feel as though you're the player. You can rob stores, complete heists, do jobs, race, fly high, skydive, drive, free-roam and much more. This game is action packed and lets you have 3 singleplayer characters named Franklin Clinton, Trevor Phillips and Michael De Santa. In GTA Online you get to have many characters and it saves your stats. You get a level online and you get up levels by completing jobs. You also get money which allows you to buy cars, apartments, muggers, guns, backup and much more.

Controls
The controls are as simple as anything. If you know how to play any other GTA, this is as easy. 'RT' to shoot, 'LT' to aim, 'X' to jump, 'A' to sprint, 'Y' to get in vehicles and 'B' to attack with melee.

Graphics
The graphics are very clear and allow you to have a nice visual on your target, whether it be shooting someone, or touching someone up at the stripclub the graphics are clear. These allow you to see anything and I would say it is a massive upgrade from the past Grand Theft Autos.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II

Name: Call of Duty: Black Ops 2
Genre: First Person Shooter
Release Date: November 13, 2012
Developer: Treyarch
Publishers: Activision & Square Enix
Modes: Singleplayer, Zombies & Multiplayer
Platforms: Xbox 360, PS3, Windows & Wii U
Content Rating: 18+

Summary
This is a first-person shooter in which players control U.S. soldiers tasked with preventing an imminent terrorist attack. Players complete military mission objectives during the Cold War and in modern-day international locations (e.g., United States, Haiti, Afghanistan). Players use pistols, sniper rifles, machine guns, explosives, and melee attacks to kill enemy soldiers; the frenetic conflicts are highlighted by realistic gunfire, screams of pain, and large splashes of blood from injured characters. Blood stains are also depicted around corpses and in the surrounding environment. Some weapons result in decapitated bodies or dismembered limbs, and various attacks are accompanied by slow-motion effects. Other intense acts of violence include a soldier burned alive in a vehicle; a bound man shot in the kneecaps during an interrogation; a hostage's throat slit by a villain; an incapacitated soldier shot in the head at close range by the player.

Gameplay
The gameplay in Call of Duty: Black Ops II is very smart and is based in the future. It has the continuation of Black Ops I with some new characters. Multiplayer is very simple and just battle for your rank at the top and unlock guns, titles, emblems and much more! The part everybody loves is Zombies because it is fun to play and you want to get to high rounds and get up ranks. The maps are usually big besides Nuketown.

Controls
The controls are simple to use and are the same as any past Call of Duty, it has a few different types of controls, button layout, and stick layout. Some are Default, Tactical & Lefty. They are easy to learn and you will get to learn them very quickly whenever you start to play the game.

Graphics
The graphics are very clear and is 1080p and works best with HDMI. It has some slow motion scenes and the color is in sharp RGB. It partly uses Cartoon graphics but still easy to see.

Personal Ratings
Gameplay: 8/10
Controls: 8/10
Graphics: 7/10
Overall: 8/10

Story
The story well-known. It is basically that you play as a football (or soccer) player of your choice. You play on a team against another team. You can change lots of settings to your choosing to affect your experience of the game. You can improve your players ratings in the charts to shoot for the best! I like the story, but sometimes its a little too much of the same. Generally, I am not bored with it, but there are times when Ive just had enough.

Gameplay [Single & Multiplayer]
Single player is fairly straightforward in FIFA 14. Its easy to do and it can be fun if you do it right. A lot of it depends on you and sometimes its difficult to predict what will happen next, but that can also be the fun of it. With multiple players, it can be hard to coordinate things, but its also nice to have another brain with me as I play. With that, we can make plans together and carry them out successfully (most of the time).

Graphics
The graphics in this game are fairly good. I have seen better in other games, but in those games, it seemed as though the main objective for them was to have great graphics. For FIFA 14, the graphics do what you need it to do. You do get some funny images though, like a foot beneath the field or a ball travelling through a head (which is actually really unfortunate). This being said, the graphics are still very good and very realistic.

Controls
For me, the controls are doable. Theyre not easy, per se, but they are definitely doable. Of course, this is something which must be evaluated specific to each person though because some people just cant seem the grasp the idea of anything but button mashing. In some games, those people can get by with button mashing, but for sure not in any FIFA games. You must have a good understanding of the controls to do anything effective and precision if you are going to be successful.
