If you are on windows vista this might help, if not then i think you can get to display settings by going to control panel or something like that.
1.go to desktop
2. right click > personalize
3. display settings
4. click on the "2"
5. click on "Extend the desktop onto this monitor."
6. press "Apply" and then "OK" an it should work fine.
