Terrabytez wrote Finally, why do people buy i3's anymore. if you want a cheap good CPU go AMD, if you want a good more expensive cpu, get an i5.
I got one for my dad in his home PC. You know what else I put in it? A WD intellipower HDD and a Corsair CX PSU.

Oh wait, I love my dad. Why would I do that to him?

250gb HDD? You can get a 1TB and it would only cost an extra few pounds

I am sure there is a 1TB HDD right underneath the 250GB one i accidentally clicked on...

May i ask why you choose such a bad CPU. If you know your stuff, you dont just go for price or just because it has 6 cores..... That cpu is so well known to over heat and a small case is just going to cook it. Also, its pretty old, yeah its cheap, but its no where near what your going to get out of a i3 performance wise. For a decent pc for now, you should be looking at a piledriver series not bulldozer.

People like you make me laugh.Just coming on this forum and syaing an i3 will outperform a 6300.No,it won't and there's a price difference.

Many people have a FX 6300 including Craig and Gigahertz,so this is a great CPU.6 cores is great for all your needs.

The 6300 has better performance than the i3 and is around the same price(roughly).

I suggest you pick up a textbook and read about PC building, you might like this: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Maybe you can learn a thing or two(ha).

Okay, no good saying other people have them as i don't care. I myself have just finished a custom PC.(If you want to know specs, PM me) I have a 8320 and it easily matches a i5 AT A PRICE. the 8320 costs 150GBP, and you get the performance from it at a decent price. Getting a 80gbp cpu is like throwing your money away because its like 4 years old has has bad technology in it.

All im saying is if your going to build a computer now which is going to last more than 4/5 years, go with a a more expensive cpu.

Thats how i feel about the 6300, outdated and bad for today's standards.

Editiionz, I agree with you in every respect. Comparatively, AMD CPUs cannot hold a candle to Intel (performance wise), however we recommend the best hardware for the budgets people present us with. When the budget allows for Intel, we go Intel. When the budget doesn't allow for Intel, we go AMD. That's just how things operate here.

By no stretch of the imagination is an 8320/50 faster than an i5, for one thing.

You also don't seem to realize how AMD's current lineup works. The FX4300 is Vishera with two of four core modules enabled, the FX6300 has three, and the 8320 and 8350 have all four. The dies are identical aside from speed-binning and the FX6300 gives you insane performance for the price.

As for i3 vs. FX6300, it's multi-threaded (with overclocking) vs. lightly-thread performance. I only recommend the i3 if heat management is important, an IGP is necessary, or the build is ITX.

Then your 8320 is, too.
