I recently came across a video of a speech by Sam Harris and he explains how we are so caught up in trivial things, much like games, celebrity culture and trying to impress people, that when something truly monumental happens in your life, you will look back on how you were before it and realize how stupid you were for caring about such small things.

You can take it either way, that this is saying the teenage generation is screwed up, or that you're too busy caring about things that don't really matter to you.

Actually, around 96-98 were the first bunches of kids to start getting phones and stuff way to early, you are part of the group that he is talking about (not saying you do that type of stuff) and getting any type of phone at six, is crazy early, I did not get a phone until I got my license cause I did not one nor did I need one.

me being 19 now, i still try to do that stuff whenever i can, im mean heck, we just got around 5 inches of snow and i made plans to go sledding before its gone

See I wish I could go outside, and I might start doing that when things clear up but everyone around me just stays inside and plays video games all day.

Klaw wrote There are soooo many things that are just wrong with this generation. Back in the last generation they weren't like we are now, and I think that has to do with advanced technology.

People are always on their cell phone, which annoys the crap out of me but whatever. Back then, they didn't have cell phones to be on 24/7.

16 Year Old getting pregnant, when they don't have jack, no money, nothing and they have to rely on their parent for everything.

Kids now are more spoiled then ever, 8 year olds have IPhones/IPad, when they probably begged their parent to buy it for them constantly.

Kids I feel don't spend enough time with their parent, this again goes back to the technology thing, people are too busy texting, playing xbox, ps3, etc. Back then, kids spent their time outside and helping their parent with whatever they need.

6 Year Olds are now using cuss words. I don't know about you but if I just said like shut up or crap, I would get my mouth washed out with soap, which was awful by the way. But now 6 year olds can cuss and parents don't care at all.

People want jobs that pay good, but they don't do anything to get to it.

Kids are doing drugs and drinking alcohol like there's no tomorrow. I personally have never done either of those, neither will I.

I could go on and on and on, and I bet you guys do to. Feel free to add anything I missed.

I really think our generation is just so messed up its not even right, and the next generation will probably be worse.

Leave your opinions down low, I'd really like to hear them. Thanks for reading guy and I hope you have a great rest of the night!
I will break down your post.

Before cellphones you had other things to be on allday, in the bus it would be the paper, people move on and so does technology.

Teen pregnancy has allways been there, it's less than ever before due to proper condoms and pills.

Kids nowadays get that because technology has moved on. When you were 8 or something you got your first colourless mom's nokia probably, nowadays we have hyper-modern smartphones. Same thing for Ipad's, they're over available now, and income has raised overall over the years compared to before (long-term) Also, you probably at once begged to your parents for something aswell. That is very hypocrite.

For this, again, technology has moved on. Many kids still play outside, all of them really, but there is also other things to do like using an Ipad when it's cold. Kids still help their parents, you just don't see it because you're not around when the parenting of a non-sibling happens, per usual.

That differs per parent, I didn't get punished either, every child cusses, it is almost natural to cuss for humans.

Also, man, if you go back, all the kids in the 1900's were smoking, or close to, for the drugs and alcohol, man look at the hippy-age, look before that, it is worse than it is now.

It is all about perspective.
