Nintendo has always made great consoles but there marketing is way behind the competitors. That being the reason that the console has died and that most of the games on there were meant to draw the attention of kids 5-16. Be it may that there are games for adults or that adults might find fascinating. Also they released the Wii with the highest resolution of 360p. After 2 years they did come out with the "HD" component cables but that only raised the resolution to 480p. Not that much of an improvement. As for Microsoft they released the first console with the choice of AV or HD component.

I think most of the Wii's popularity was due to Wii Sports and Super Smash Brothers Brawl (of course not taking away from some Mario and Zelda games.) Now that the Wii U is out, is there really a point to continue the console? It's line up of games wasn't really that strong. They just shifted it all to the Wii U, which makes sense to me. Xbox 360 and PS3 still has popular online games. I don't recall the Wii ever having that.

Wii was more of a kid console, I liked the Wii for the Wii games, such as Wii bowling lol or Mario & Sonic at the Olympic games but overall as a console it sucks

When the Wii came out it was like no other. Using your body as a controller. Now with the Kinect and Move. The Wii is just nothing.

Yeah, the console was popular several years ago but now it's just, not much anymore. The price of it was cheap, and the whole you could use your body thing was cool, but with releases like the Kinect and a lot of people just not being interested in those types of playing styles it just went under.

The Wii was good during its first few years, but it grew outdated pretty fast considering other consoles could do everything and more.

In my opinion, people only played Mario Kart. And, as that game got older and older, people grew out of the Wii and just stop playing it.
